Weekend Recap

If you're like me and you're working today while your spouse/significant other has President's Day off...
...I feel your pain.
But this is technically my Thursday, so I shouldn't be complaining.
My BFF is visiting from Florida on Wednesday, and I will have 6 days off with her!
I am so excited!  You have no idea.

Oh, this weekend.  I'm glad it's over...

It started off at the Emergency Vet with our first-born {to us} Dexter.
He had been acting funny for a few days, and on Thursday we noticed he wasn't eating, drinking, or using the litter box.  He also had trouble moving his hind legs.
I took him to our regular vet on Friday afternoon, they took blood/X-Rays, and informed me I needed to rush him to the Emergency Vet because he had a "life threatening" issue with his bladder.
For whatever reason, his bladder swelled 2-3 times its normal size, and his entire urinary system became blocked.
Apparently this happens a lot in young male cats...

The E-Vet said they needed to keep him for 3 days, put a catheter in, and make sure he "eliminated" and/or got the blockage out.
Poor Dex.
If you have ever been to the emergency room (human or otherwise), you know that shit ain't cheap.
It was a shock.
But he's like our baby.
I basically told them to cut their quoted price in half -- which they did, thank goodness.
All it meant was that Jeremiah and I would have to take extra good care of him Saturday afternoon, Sunday, and today to make sure our little guy was getting better.

So far, so good.

And since he's been locked up in his own room recuperating, the other babies are pretty worried about him.
Lily has been laying by the door.
She was even scratching underneath it, so we had to line the carpet with towels... oy.

Other than that, we spent the rest of our time cleaning every.single.closet. in our house.
It felt awesome.
I even alphabetized my spices.
Stress does funny things to a person.

How was your weekend?
Have your fur babies ever given you a scare?

  11. My cat Lily once chewed on some lilies...what an awful irony. Little did I know that lilies are seriously poisonous to cats! It was a very expensive e-vet trip but worth it of course. They had to use charcoal to induce vomiting and I remember when I picked her up a couple of days later she still had it on her little nose...so sad! Hope your kitty is feeling better :)

  12. Thank goodness he is recuperating well! I don't even know what I would do. I am so glad you got the bill cut in half...that is pretty amazing. I'd go home and cuddle my cat but she would probably just hiss at me ;-)

  13. Poor kitty :( We had to give our cat, Nox, away when we moved in with my aunt a few years ago and the guy we gave him to (who we thought was good) pretty much ignored the problems. Luckily we found out and were able to take him back and now he's a happy fat cat at my MIL's house.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me some love! They make my face and my heart smile. I respond to most of my comments via email, if at all possible. :)
