Ah, Valentine's Day.
You either love it or love to hate it.
I have never really gotten into it, because I think you should always
show the one you love that you care and think about them.
show the one you love that you care and think about them.
However, I am a sucker for romance -- what can I say?
I wanted to make something sweet for my sweet this year.
This dessert is perfect to share over a romantic brunch or after dinner.
As a self-proclaimed non-baker, it really doesn't get easier than this.
Ingredients
1 pre-made 9 in. pie crust
2 c fresh strawberries
2 c fresh blueberries
2/3 c sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
3/4 c all-purpose flour
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp grated fresh orange peel
1/3 c butter, melted
Directions
Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Roll pastry into 10-11" tart pan; unfold and gently press against the bottom + side of pan.
In large bowl, gently toss berries + 2/3 c sugar + cornstarch.
Spoon berry mixture into pan.
In small bowl, stir flour + 1/2 c sugar + orange peel + butter with fork until crumbly.
Sprinkle evenly over berries.
Bake 35 - 45 minutes or until fruit bubbles in the center.
Serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream.
If you want it to stay together more (and no be so gooey), cool completely - then serve.

ReplyDeleteIt really does look delicious, Jess. I am not really into fruit pies, because i hate biting into the whole fruit and having it gush out into my mouth.
ReplyDeleteBut it does look good! I wonder how good it tastes with Hagen Daaz on the top?
