Mason Jar Herb Garden

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I found some great inspiration via Pinterest on a mason jar herb garden display.

I have had these done for a little bit now, but I have been waiting and waiting for my cardboard tags to get here from Very Jane and I am just too excited to keep it a secret any longer!

Supplies
4 Mason Jars
4 of your favorite herbs
Cilantro, Basil, Parsley, and Dill (from the Minneapolis Farmer's Market)
Potting Soil
Twine {optional}

Fill the jars about half-way with potting soil:

Break up the roots of the herbs, and place inside the jar.  Fill any gaps with soil, and make sure your plants aren't buried inside!

Tie with two pieces of twine and then use a chalkboard tag to label and find a nice sunny spot to display them.  I purchased two wooden crates from JoAnn's and spray painted them white.

Aren't they adorable?  Now do you see why I had to share them? I just couldn't keep this kind of secret from you, my friends!

Which herbs do you have in your herb garden?  Do you plant yours the traditional way or keep them inside?

  4. So lovely! We have a little vegetable garden and it is so rewarding even when I accidentally mix up parsley with coriander. They totally look the same! But the taste and smell got me thinking...

    These herbs in mason jars are SO cute! I think you've just inspired me to do this on my patio. I might even throw in a few flowers as well. Brilliant :)
